10 year 9 pupils from woodchurch took part in this activity day at the discovery clc on 7th july 08. pupils were involved in three activities: a robot challenge, self-righting buoys and renewable energy driven cars. we came away with 2 trophies won in the robot challenge activity by lisa hill and jenny noonan. pupils were up against stiff competition from 5 other wirral schools; oldershaw, upton hall, birkenhead, south wirral and wirral grammar school for girls. well done to all who took part. team photo below.

why not enter this brilliant competition. cash prizes to be won! the theme for this year’s competition is ’science and sport’. entries can focus on anything related to how science supports the world of sport - from methods used in drug testing, to enhanced sportswear or equipment, to specialised training techniques. all formats will be accepted, for example: posters, powerpoint presentations, school magazine articles, information leaflets, work from a science or after school club. the closing date is 31st may 2008. see mr warren for further information or read more about it here.

join schools across the country taking part in the uk carbon footprint project. here are some lesson plans to help integrate this project into the curriculum. in addition to this particular activity, the lesson plans explore the topic of climate change more broadly, with ideas for how to use google tools such as google earth, google maps and search to bring the subject to life.
