As far as i can see the first element would be Ac - Actinium and the last would be Zr - Zirconium and the two letters that are not represented by any element symbols (The first, not second letter in the symbol) are J and Q.

we have a year 10 winner. michael davies 10xz. prizes still left for years 7,8,9 and 11.

    Hi sir,

The first element in the periodic table (alphabetically) is Actinium (Ac) and the last is Zirconium (Zr).

  4.   charlotte Says:

can you rephrase the part 2 please

there are 26 letters in the alphabet. which are not seen at all in the periodic table?

  6.   Walker Bruce Says:

What do you mean by year, as in 10 year winner?

  7.   woodchurchscience Says:

thanks for taking part walker bruce. are you a pupil at our school? if not i’m afraid you are not eligible for a prize (unless you can get here to collect it!) we have 5 year groups here at woodchurch high school, year 7 to year 11, the year 10 person has collected their prize, other year groups are yet to enter.

  8.   woodchurchscience Says:

anthony and kaya, you are partly correct. (first part OK, second part a bit missing…). there is more than 1 letter not represented in the periodic table. look again closely.

  9.   antony vaughan Says:

why havent you looked at my other answers

  10.   woodchurchscience Says:

anthony, i do read your answers and as i said earlier you have got the first part correct (well done), but the second part wrong! there are only 2 letters not shown in the periodic table, and not the 10 or so that you keep putting in. look again carefully and be patient, when you get it right you’ll be the first to know! be calm!

  11.   antony vaughan Says:

    1. the first element in alphabetical order of the periodic table is actinium (ac) and the last element is zirconium (zr)
    2. the two missing letters are j and q.

  12.   antony vaughan Says:

    look at my other answer

  13.   woodchurchscience Says:

i’ve seen it, well done anthony you got it right on both counts…see me for a prize.
