i think the website is good for science homework because if someone like me has a dad who has to go away all the time you dont need to ask him about homework you can just look it up here

  5.   woodchurchscience Says:

thanks for visiting. check with me for a prize. and james i’ve answered your question and posted a blog entry for it. check back here http://woodchurchscience.edublogs.org

  9.   megan mcgunniss Says:

    hiya sir

on 7l2 go to 2 a and please sir help me because i dont understand

  10.   woodchurchscience Says:

hi megan, remember we spoke about how long the Earth takes to rotate once (24 hours). The question says:
The diagram shows a photographic image taken by a camera that has been focussed on some stars. The dot in the centre is the Pole Star. The curves are other stars.
    (a) For how many hours was the camera shutter open?
Look at the curves. These are traces left on the film. To make a complete circle (by leaving the shutter open all night!) would take 24 hours, but they only show about a quarter of a circle. Can you work out now how long the shutter was left open? Thinks carefully. If you can do it now post me back and let me know. If you’re not sure leave it and I’ll explain next week.

  11.   Ryan highton Says:

    hi sir

when is Haillys comet next due and why is it called Haylleys comet

  12.   Ryan highton Says:

    HI

if the sun did out how would we be able to see and grow PLANTS FOOD ECT

  13.   woodchurchscience Says:

thanks for your questions ryan. halley’s comet is next due in the middle of 2061 (it comes around once every 75 years or so). it is named after the astronomer edmond halley who lived 1656-1742.

if the sun suddenly went out, the earth would pretty quickly go very dark and very cold. life would be almost certainly be very difficult for a short time and then would die out. bit depressing really but we’ve got a long time before our sun dies, about 4 to 5 billion years-ish.

    keep those questions coming…

  14.   Becky Gibson Says:

    Ulla sir,
I think it’s brilliant (the site) It is really usefull for our homework and for any sort of reaserches. How come in Spain it’s always boiling and it is NEVER hot around here ? I hope some year it will be as hot as in Spain .
    thank you
    from Becky 7xs
    xx

You are a brill teacher x

  15.   Becky Gibson Says:

    ulla sir,
I think its a brill site and are you going to make up a new site up for your new year sevens in a year or are you keeping this site. One question :I dont really understand:where does the Earth ever end OR the sky
    Its so complacated
    love from becky xs

  16.   woodchurchscience Says:

this site has been running a few years now, so we won’t have a new one next year, we’ll just try and encourage next years year 7 to get involved like you. thanks for the question about the Earth and the sky. Can you exp;lain a bit more what you actually mean? do you mean where does the sky stop and space begin? or something else?

  17.   georgia Says:

this website is so cool i love it

  18.   woodchurchscience Says:

well thanks a lot. hope you keep coming back.

  19.   amelia Says:

    hi sir,
i have a test but i cant find where distillation is i will look in my file what unit it is but do you have any tips on finding the topic easily on the website??
    thanks:-D

  20.   amelia Says:

    hi again sir,
i found the test yourself EVENTUALLY after about half an hour but do you still have any tips?

  21.   woodchurchscience Says:

best place to start is the ‘revision’ tab right at the top of the page. then pick your year (year 7) then away you go…

  22.   amelia Says:

thanks sir thats a big help i hope i did well on the test!

  23.   Abbie Says:

Hi Sir, cool website. Never had 1 in primary so its a big diff! And got me from set 3 to set 2 ! WOW!

  24.   Abbie Says:

Hi , is Mr smith there if not tell him that i think his lessons are brill and he is the best

  25.   abbie Says:

Hi sir, i think the same as becky. (above) . You should make a website just for year 7. And put lots more fun games on it so we can remember things more easilly! Just an idea!

  26.   abbie Says:

Sir, what would happen if bees became extinct? WOULD WE DIE?

  27.   woodchurchscience Says:

that’s a brilliant question and very timely…here’s a link to a few articles about this problem.

  28.   abbie Says:

Hi,Sir i was reading the paper the other night and it said something about a new planet? How can planets just appear?
    From Abbie-w-

  29.   woodchurchscience Says:

it’s not that they just appear its because we get better at looking for them…telescopes are a lot more powerful nowadays and they can scan large areas of space in a very short time…
