seems that if you’re a one-legged kiwi then things can get difficult. not just hopping about on the hunt for food but for more, ahem, ‘intimate’ reasons: mating can be difficult if you’ve only got one leg to stand on! so scientists in new zealand have turned to movie magic and the people at weta (lord of the rings and king kong) to make a prosthetic leg for the bird. read more about it here and see some more pictures.
